About the Role
Schedule:
Monday-Thursday 4:30-9:00
Friday 9am-5pm
Sundays 10am-6pm
We are seeking a compassionate, patient, and dedicated Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide one-on-one support for an 11-year-old boy who is working on developing his socialization skills and overcoming anxiety.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with children with cognitive and processing disabilities, as well as communication disorders. Experience supporting children with anxiety is a plus.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the child through challenging tasks
Provide a calming presence
Promote independence.
Qualifications:
Previous experience working with children, particularly those with cognitive/processing disabilities and communication disorders.
Experience supporting children with anxiety or other emotional needs is highly preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
Training in anxiety management techniques for children or youth.
Knowledge of special education techniques or strategies that support children’s social and emotional development.
Transportation is preferred, but not required.
Must be comfortable with commuting to the clients home (use zip-code 97024 for commute reference)
Requirements
Daily Requirements:
Scheduling – each DSP has a set schedule with the assigned client(s)
Smart phone – use a cell phone to clock in/out for visits and complete the daily progress notes.
Patient, Kind and Positive – caring for clients with disabilities requires someone who can be patient, support the client through kindness and understanding, and provide positive reinforcement throughout the shift.
Driving – depending on the client, they may need to be driven to community events or appointments. Valid license and insurance required if driving will be needed.
Support – develop and maintain positive working relationships with the assigned client(s), their families and the FRR Support Manager
