About the Role
Schedule: Saturday/Sunday 10am - 5pm
Client has Tuberous Sclerosis, multiple seizures a day, and very few gross motor skills. He can walk and use his hands but does not do stairs alone, use utensils, or feed himself alone. He likes getting into everything and needs constant redirection. He is all about sensory: he is always looking for things to grab, smell, touch, play with, and put in his mouth.
Driving is strongly preferred, but not a requirement
Responsibilities:
DSP will need to give him experience like going outside on walks and experiencing new scenes and textures
DSP will need to socialize with him, always watch him, keep him safe since he's like a big toddler and doesn't know danger, and cook simple meals and feed him when needed.
Administering medication to support with seizures needs
Qualifications:
Experience, as he has medical needs and Autism
Requirements
Daily Requirements:
Scheduling – each DSP has a set schedule with the assigned client(s)
Smart phone – use a cell phone to clock in/out for visits and complete the daily progress notes.
Patient, Kind and Positive – caring for clients with disabilities requires someone who can be patient, support the client through kindness and understanding, and provide positive reinforcement throughout the shift.
Driving – depending on the client, they may need to be driven to community events or appointments. Valid license and insurance required if driving will be needed.
Support – develop and maintain positive working relationships with the assigned client(s), their families and the FRR Support Manager
