About the Role

Schedule: Monday-Thursday 4:30-9:00; Friday 9am-5pm; Sundays 10am-6pm

We are seeking a compassionate, patient, and dedicated Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide one-on-one support for an 11-year-old boy who is working on developing his socialization skills and overcoming anxiety. This position will focus on engaging the child in activities, encouraging participation in tasks, and helping him stay focused through challenges while promoting a supportive, patient environment.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with children with cognitive and processing disabilities, as well as communication disorders. Experience supporting children with anxiety is a plus. You will play a key role in building the child’s confidence, fostering positive behaviors, and helping him grow socially and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities:

- Engage the child in various activities
- Support the child through challenging tasks
- Provide a calming presence
- Promote independence.
- Work collaboratively with the family
- Foster communication skills

Requirements

Daily Requirements: 

  • Scheduling – each DSP has a set schedule with the assigned client(s) 

  • Smart phone – use a cell phone to clock in/out for visits and complete the daily progress notes. 

  • Patient, Kind and Positive – caring for clients with disabilities requires someone who can be patient, support the client through kindness and understanding, and provide positive reinforcement throughout the shift. 

  • Driving – depending on the client, they may need to be driven to community events or appointments.  Valid license and insurance required if driving will be needed.  

  • Support – develop and maintain positive working relationships with the assigned client(s), their families and the FRR Support Manager 1A
