Schedule: Sundays 8am-4pm
We are seeking a caring and energetic caregiver to provide care for a 12-year-old boy with autism who is nonverbal. The client needs support with activities of daily living, building independence, and developing social and emotional regulation skills. The family would like all care to be provided in the DSP's own home and/or out in the community. The client needs a DSP who can get him engaged, including attending church and going to the park or store.
Responsibilities:
• Provide daily care and assistance to the client, including support with meal prep and feeding, hygiene, toileting, and engaging in activities outside of the home.
• Manage potential behavior challenges that arise including emotional dysregulation by providing guidance on acceptable responses and redirecting him to a safe space to deescalate when necessary.
• Support client in building social and communication skills by providing opportunities to practice sounds and use pictures to improve communication.
Qualifications:
• Must have a valid driver's license and reliable vehicle to provide transportation.
• Must be comfortable handling behavior challenges that may arise.
• ABA therapy experience preferred.
Requisitos
Daily Requirements:
Scheduling – each DSP has a set schedule with the assigned client(s)
Smart phone – use a cell phone to clock in/out for visits and complete the daily progress notes.
Patient, Kind and Positive – caring for clients with disabilities requires someone who can be patient, support the client through kindness and understanding, and provide positive reinforcement throughout the shift.
Driving – depending on the client, they may need to be driven to community events or appointments. Valid license and insurance required if driving will be needed.
Support – develop and maintain positive working relationships with the assigned client(s), their families and the FRR Support Manager
