Schedule: Evenings, weekends, and overnights. Schedule can vary and is up for discussion.
We are seeking a compassionate and reliable caregiver to assist a 15-year-old nonverbal boy with activities of daily living and personal care. The ideal candidate will be comfortable with personal hygiene tasks, administering medications, and providing a safe, supportive environment. This position includes 2:1 care, so two DSPs can provide support at the same time. While not required, two applicants are welcome to apply together to work as a team.
Responsibilities:
Provide daily care and assistance to the client including support with hygiene and toileting.
Encourage the client to utilize the bathroom for bowel movements and assist with clean-up afterwards. The client uses the shower for bowel movements and his diaper to urinate in.
Assist with medication management and ensure proper administration of medications as prescribed.
Assist with providing transportation as needed.
Support the client in engaging in preferred activities including swimming, puzzles, and playing with cars.
Support the client in building social and communication skills by modeling appropriate behavior and encouraging him to use his communication device.
Manage behavior challenges that arise including mild to moderate aggression and emotional dysregulation by providing guidance on more acceptable responses and redirecting when necessary.
Qualifications
Experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred.
Experience working with high behavioral needs preferred

Requisitos
Daily Requirements:
Scheduling – each DSP has a set schedule with the assigned client(s)
Smart phone – use a cell phone to clock in/out for visits and complete the daily progress notes.
Patient, Kind and Positive – caring for clients with disabilities requires someone who can be patient, support the client through kindness and understanding, and provide positive reinforcement throughout the shift.
Driving – depending on the client, they may need to be driven to community events or appointments. Valid license and insurance required if driving will be needed.
Support – develop and maintain positive working relationships with the assigned client(s), their families and the FRR Support Manager
