About the Role
Schedule: 8am-10pm on Saturdays. Additional hours available.
We are seeking a compassionate and reliable caregiver to assist a 14-year-old nonverbal boy with activities of daily living and personal care. The ideal candidate will be comfortable with personal hygiene tasks, administering medications, and supporting him in engaging in preferred activities including swimming, puzzles, and playing with cars. Also, with building social and communication skills, modeling appropriate behavior and encouraging him to use his communication device.
Responsibilities:
Assist with providing transportation as needed.
Manage potential behavior challenges that arise including mild aggression and emotional dysregulation by providing guidance on more acceptable responses and redirecting when necessary.
Requirements
Daily Requirements:
Scheduling – each DSP has a set schedule with the assigned client(s)
Smart phone – use a cell phone to clock in/out for visits and complete the daily progress notes.
Patient, Kind and Positive – caring for clients with disabilities requires someone who can be patient, support the client through kindness and understanding, and provide positive reinforcement throughout the shift.
Driving – depending on the client, they may need to be driven to community events or appointments. Valid license and insurance required if driving will be needed.
Support – develop and maintain positive working relationships with the assigned client(s), their families and the FRR Support Manager
