About the Role
Schedule:
Monday or Friday 11am-7pm
We are seeking an engaging caregiver to provide support to an energetic 7-year-old boy with down syndrome. Needs support with ADLs - snack time, handwashing, diaper changes, bathing. Loves music, dancing, trucks, bubbles, and dogs. Can have difficulties with transitions and dislikes heights. Seeking a DSP who is patient and laid back. Must be a driver to transport client to speech and occupational therapy appointments as needed.
Responsibilities:
• Provide daily care and assistance to the client, including support with meal prep, hygiene, and toileting.
• Provide transportation to and from appointments.
• Manage potential behavior challenges that arise including emotional dysregulation by providing guidance on acceptable responses and redirecting him when necessary.
Qualifications:
• Must have a valid driver's license and reliable vehicle to provide transportation.
• Must be comfortable handling behavior challenges that may arise.
Must be comfortable with commuting to the clients home (use zip-code 97214 for commute reference)
Requirements
Daily Requirements:
Scheduling – each DSP has a set schedule with the assigned client(s)
Smart phone – use a cell phone to clock in/out for visits and complete the daily progress notes.
Patient, Kind and Positive – caring for clients with disabilities requires someone who can be patient, support the client through kindness and understanding, and provide positive reinforcement throughout the shift.
Driving – depending on the client, they may need to be driven to community events or appointments. Valid license and insurance required if driving will be needed.
Support – develop and maintain positive working relationships with the assigned client(s), their families and the FRR Support Manager
