  • Counseling for I/DD Individuals
Skyler Whitley Counseling A bit about me and my approach: I specialize in working with adults with I/DD. I opened this practice after experiencing the shortage of mental health professionals who have the skills and knowledge to effectively serve our local I/DD population. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and I have worked with the I/DD population for the last 12+ years. My approach is person-centered and highly individualized. I encourage the involvement of additional team members whenever it benefits the client. Here is some additional information to help you determine if I might be a good fit for one of your clients: I am qualified to support clients with issues such as depression, anxiety, trauma, behavioral challenges, relationship difficulties, etc. I am not likely to be an ideal fit for clients who have serious/persistent mental illness (ex: significant psychosis symptoms, frequent psychiatric hospitalization), as they may require a higher level of care or a clinician with more expertise in these areas. At this time I am only seeing clients via video telehealth. I may begin seeing clients in an office setting at some point in the future. Insurance info: At this time, I am accepting clients who have Medicaid/OHP as their only health insurance. I am not currently able to work with clients who have other or additional insurance, such as Medicare, or private insurance through a parent or employer. Clients must be enrolled with CareOregon/HealthShare for their mental health coverage, or be “open card” status. I may be able to accept other forms of insurance in the future. If one of your clients would like to be referred for services, please have them visit my website and select “request appointment.” They will see openings available for an initial consultation in July. This consultation will help us determine if I am a good fit to work with your client. If so, we can begin working together immediately.
