About the Role
Location: Portland, OR 97206
Schedule: Summer hours: Tuesday-Friday from 4:00pm-8:00pm and/or Sat-Sun anytime between 9:00am-9:00pm. Mom is looking for a full time DSP after summer care.
School year: Mon-Friday 7a-8:45am & Tuesday-Friday 4pm-8pm and Saturday-Sunday anytime from 9am-9/10pm
About: Client is an active and happy child who enjoys spending time with her siblings and playing with her toys. She is working on increasing her communication skills, building friendships, and participating more in community activities. The family is looking for DSP who will provide support with oral hygiene, general hygiene, showering, and dressing while encouraging independence as appropriate. The DSP will also help her interact with peers her age by supporting positive social skills, communication, and participation in age-appropriate activities and outings. She needs assistance with learning stranger danger awareness and understanding street signs and basic community safety skills. The family has 1 small dog.
Qualifications
-Experience working with children or individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred but Mom is also willing to teach as you go.
-A patient, positive and outgoing DSP
-Ability to encourage independence while providing appropriate support and supervision.
-Comfortable supporting hygiene and self-care routines.
-Someone who is active, engaging, dependable, and enjoys working with children.
-Comfortable working in a home with a small dog.
Requirements
Daily Requirements:
Scheduling – each DSP has a set schedule with the assigned client(s)
Smart phone – use a cell phone to clock in/out for visits and complete the daily progress notes.
Patient, Kind and Positive – caring for clients with disabilities requires someone who can be patient, support the client through kindness and understanding, and provide positive reinforcement throughout the shift.
Driving – depending on the client, they may need to be driven to community events or appointments. Valid license and insurance required if driving will be needed.
Support – develop and maintain positive working relationships with the assigned client(s), their families and the FRR Support Manager
