About the Role

Location: NE Portland (Near Gresham).

Schedule: Fridays after 3PM and flexible weekend shifts available.
Occasional overnight care is needed.

We are seeking a friendly, compassionate, and culturally aware Direct Support Professional (DSP) to support a loving and enthusiastic 10-year-old girl who thrives on connection. She enjoys exploring her community, socializing, helping others, and engaging in activities such as reading, drawing and crafts.

The ideal candidate is someone who is patient, understanding, and able to provide gentle encouragement and motivation. This role is perfect for someone who can both be a supportive caregiver and a positive companion who respects, values and empowers her voice and individuality.

She is building her independence in her daily living skills and may require prompting and support with personal care tasks such as hygiene, toileting, bathing and dressing. This position is also well-suited for someone who can help create opportunities for social interaction and support the development of pro-social skills and friendships.



Responsibilities:
Demonstrate cultural awareness and respect for the individuals beliefs and religious practices
Provide support during community outings, as needed
Assist with personal care and hygiene when necessary
Offer companionship and emotional support
Adapt to the client’s developmental level and communication style

Requirements

  • Daily Requirements:

  • Scheduling - each DSP has a set schedule with the assigned client(s),

  • Smart phone - use a cell phone to clock in/out for visits and complete the daily progress notes.

  • Patient, Kind and Positive - caring for clients with disabilities requires someone who can be patient, support the client through kindness and understanding, and provide positive reinforcement throughout the shift.

  • Driving - depending on the client, they may need to be driven to community events or appointments. Valid license and insurance required if driving will be needed.

  • Support - develop and maintain positive working relationships with the assigned client(s), their families and the FRR Support Manager.
