About the Role
Schedule: 2:30-6pm Monday-Friday
Client Description: This 8-year-old boy is nonverbal and uses a communication device to express his needs. He loves to run around the house, jump, and spend time on his tablet. He enjoys being around other kids and visiting fun places like water parks and malls. He also participates in regular therapies: occupational therapy every other week, feeding therapy once a week, and neurofeedback therapy twice a week. 
Responsibilities:
Provide after-school care at home and in the community
Support with day-to-day routines (such as toileting/diapering, wiping, changing clothes, preparing simple meals, making his bed, and cleaning his room)
Provide transportation to activities and therapy sessions
Encourage independence in self-help skills
Engage him in active play and preferred activities
Qualifications:
Must have reliable vehicle and auto insurance (to provide transportation)
Patience and creativity to support a nonverbal child
Willingness to learn how to use his communication device
Experience with children with disabilities is helpful but not required
Requirements
Daily Requirements:
- Scheduling – each DSP has a set schedule with the assigned client(s) 
- Smart phone – use a cell phone to clock in/out for visits and complete the daily progress notes. 
- Patient, Kind and Positive – caring for clients with disabilities requires someone who can be patient, support the client through kindness and understanding, and provide positive reinforcement throughout the shift. 
- Driving – depending on the client, they may need to be driven to community events or appointments. Valid license and insurance required if driving will be needed. 
- Support – develop and maintain positive working relationships with the assigned client(s), their families and the FRR Support Manager
