About the Role

Schedule: T-Th: 3/4:00pm-7/8:00pm. M, F, and Weekends: Open and flexible.

Client is a 19-year-old young man, who enjoys basketball and funny YouTube videos. Three mornings a week, client is working his part-time job, but he and his family would like to find a DSP who can be a friend and companion during his time off. They are seeking a DSP who can provide transportation and motivate the client to get outside and explore activities of interest. Client's autism and mild OCD behaviors can lead to some inflexibility and family would like a DSP who can encourage the client to be more flexible, and step out of his comfort zone. Other priorities include basic hygiene support (reminders to shower, for example), and healthy routine and habit building, especially the nighttime routine.

Requirements

Daily Requirements:

  • Scheduling – each DSP has a set schedule with the assigned client(s)

  • Smart phone – use a cell phone to clock in/out for visits and complete the daily progress notes.

  • Patient, Kind and Positive – caring for clients with disabilities requires someone who can be patient, support the client through kindness and understanding, and provide positive reinforcement throughout the shift.

  • Driving – depending on the client, they may need to be driven to community events or appointments.  Valid license and insurance required if driving will be needed.

  • Support – develop and maintain positive working relationships with the assigned client(s), their families and the FRR Support Manager
