Description:
Client is a is a very energetic almost 16-year-old. He likes My Little Pony, Legos, music, video games, and is very eager to make friends. Parents describe him as a sweetheart who wants to adopt a three-legged dog one day and build a vending machine for homeless people to access food and supplies, they might need. He is very into ASD awareness and wants to be an ASD activist when he grows up. He enjoys reading "jokey" or "silly" novels like Captain Underpants and has a quirky sense of humor. He can be introspective at times. Lately, he has shown interest in learning to ride the bus. Family would like to find a DSP who is patient and attentive. They should be able to manage strong emotions and help the client identify calming strategies that work well when he is most dysregulated. A DSP who shares similar interests, including neighborhood walks and short hikes, would be ideal, as family is eager for the client to be more active. The client is very eager to make friendships with other teens his age, and who might share similar interests and experiences. The family would like a DSP who is able to help their son strengthen his socialization skills in support of that goal.
