About the Role

Schedule: Tuesday and Thursday at 5pm – 7pm and Sunday 3:30pm -5:30pm
Summer and school schedule are going to be the same.

Description:
We are looking for a kind and thoughtful person who can work with a 7-year-old boy with ADHD and high emotional needs. Our client is very energetic and curious boy, who loves all things related to basketball and marvel. Client has had very big changes in his life, and has a very busy schedule, he has been working on being ready for the transitions throughout his day and practicing emotional regulation when he becomes upset or frustrated. Ideal candidate will confidently support him with identifying his emotions by himself, self-initiating calming activities when he is feeling activated, positively role model and practice cooperation and social skills. Client is hyperactive and easily distracted, he needs consistency and engagement to help him follow his routine and goals, by redirecting, offering choices, and being warm but direct. Experience with and respect for children who have high emotional and behavioral needs is essential. Having experience working with children in foster care and/or having trauma-informed care experience is preferred but not required.

Additional details: All shifts will be in the home; there are two dogs.

Requirements

Daily Requirements: 

  • Scheduling – each DSP has a set schedule with the assigned client(s) 

  • Smart phone – use a cell phone to clock in/out for visits and complete the daily progress notes. 

  • Patient, Kind and Positive – caring for clients with disabilities requires someone who can be patient, support the client through kindness and understanding, and provide positive reinforcement throughout the shift. 

  • Driving – depending on the client, they may need to be driven to community events or appointments.  Valid license and insurance required if driving will be needed.  

  • Support – develop and maintain positive working relationships with the assigned client(s), their families and the FRR Support Manager
