About the Role
Schedule: Family is very flexible for scheduling when they find a DSP who's a good fit, DSP may be able to work additional days outside this schedule.
3 nights/week on any of these days:
- Monday-Thursdays: 4:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
- Fridays: 4:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.
Weekends are somewhat open, but should remain flexible for family outings/plans, etc. (no set schedule)
Client Description: This 15 year old client is a kind, shy individual who benefits from patient encouragement and structured opportunities to build his confidence and independence. He is working on social skills, self-advocacy, and developing personal interests. An ideal caregiver will be patient, encouraging, and able to create opportunities for him to gain confidence in social and everyday situations. Encouragement without pressure is essential for him, especially when he feels frustrated. The family doesn’t want their DSP to feel like a babysitter/parental role, as he does not connect/engage with this type of dynamic. The DSP should instead be more like a friend/peer who helps him achieve his goals. Note: this client also has a brother who is a client with us. Family would like to have a DSP who is open to working with both clients in the long run. Brother is 17 years old, a bit more outgoing, and is essentially working on the same goals as his younger brother.
Requirements:
Must provide transportation to the client for community events, etc. (reliable vehicle and auto insurance required).
Must be comfortable commuting to client's home for work. Please use zip-code 97229 for commute reference.
