About the Role

Schedule: m-th, anywhere between 2-9pm (family can be flexible/change things as needed). And occasional 24-hour relief care shifts on weekends, if possible. Coverage on Fridays around the same time would also be great, in case their other DSP calls out. Additional hours potentially available when he is off school i.e. memorial day, other 3-day weekends, winter break, spring break, and especially summer break.

Client Description:

This 11-year-old client is a friendly, caring boy who enjoys his electronics and sports like basketball and soccer. He lives with his adopted dads in outer NW Portland, and needs a friendly, consistent DSP to help him gain a better understanding of his place in the world. He's working on gaining skills in socializing with peers his age (such as his younger brother), self-care/hygiene, among other ADLs/IADLs.

Responsibilities:

Provide transportation to community events, school, etc. Mileage
reimbursement available!
Give routine reminders for tasks he's working on around the house
Bring positive energy to his interactions with others
Provide redirection when necessary

Requirements

Daily Requirements: 

  • Scheduling – each DSP has a set schedule with the assigned client(s) 

  • Smart phone – use a cell phone to clock in/out for visits and complete the daily progress notes. 

  • Patient, Kind and Positive – caring for clients with disabilities requires someone who can be patient, support the client through kindness and understanding, and provide positive reinforcement throughout the shift. 

  • Driving – depending on the client, they may need to be driven to community events or appointments.  Valid license and insurance required if driving will be needed.  

  • Support – develop and maintain positive working relationships with the assigned client(s), their families and the FRR Support Manager
