About the Role

Schedule:
8-10 hours a week (four hours each day 9 am - 1/1:30 pm). They'd like help on weekdays, and generally have the most availability on Thursdays and Fridays. They are able to add other days if needed, but this will depend on the clients various appointments.

Client Description: This 4 year old client is an easy-going kid, and needs a caring DSP to help him engage with his environment, especially through play. He currently has no verbal communication and has little mobility due to his health conditions. DSP should be able to confidently and gently carry his entire weight (about 35 pounds) for any transitions, diaper changes, etc. He had a liver transplant and his immune system is still suppressed, so it's important for the DSP to be healthy/vaccinated, and notify the parents if they're sick or have been around someone who is sick. Family has 1 dog in the home who doesn't shed.

Responsibilities:
Diaper changes
Ensuring his feedings/medications are given via g-tube are on schedule
Transferring him from the floor to seating chair
Helping with his therapies like appropriate play and practicing communication

Qualifications:
Experience using a g-tube preferred but not required, so long as the DSP is willing to learn.
Must be able to confidently lift and move the clients entire weight (about 35 pounds) for transferring.


Must be comfortable with commuting to the clients home (use zip-code 97209 for commute reference)

Requirements

Daily Requirements: 

  • Scheduling – each DSP has a set schedule with the assigned client(s) 

  • Smart phone – use a cell phone to clock in/out for visits and complete the daily progress notes. 

  • Patient, Kind and Positive – caring for clients with disabilities requires someone who can be patient, support the client through kindness and understanding, and provide positive reinforcement throughout the shift. 

  • Driving – depending on the client, they may need to be driven to community events or appointments.  Valid license and insurance required if driving will be needed.  

  • Support – develop and maintain positive working relationships with the assigned client(s), their families and the FRR Support Manager
