Overnight 6pm-6am
Part time (open to 12-hour shift) 6am-12pm and 12am-6pm
We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and skilled caregiver to provide quality of life care for an 18-year-old individual with a brain injury. The individual’s condition is worsening, and we need someone who can offer physical, emotional, and practical support during this challenging time. The caregiver will assist with various needs, including mobility support, dressing/undressing, toileting, and monitoring the individual’s condition. This role requires a patient, empathetic professional who is committed to improving the client’s quality of life and offering comfort.
Responsibilities:
Provide daily care and assistance to the client, including support with mobility, dressing, undressing, and personal hygiene.
Assist with transferring the client (approximately 180-220 lbs) to different positions as needed, ensuring safety and comfort.
Monitor the client’s physical and emotional condition, reporting any significant changes to the healthcare team.
Provide assistance with toileting needs and ensure the client is clean and comfortable.
Ensure proper feeding through tube feeding, as needed, and monitor the client for any signs of discomfort or complications related to feeding.
Offer emotional support and companionship to the client and their family, helping to maintain a sense of dignity and calm during this difficult time.
Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable living environment for the client.
Collaborate with family members and healthcare professionals to ensure consistent and effective care.
Qualifications:
Experience working with individuals with brain injuries, disabilities, or providing end-of-life care is highly preferred.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with families and healthcare teams.
Experience with transferring and providing physical assistance to individuals with limited mobility (must be able to safely assist with individuals weighing between 180-220 lbs).
Empathy, patience, and a caring, compassionate attitude.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and respect the client’s dignity and wishes.
Knowledge of tube feeding procedures and toileting care is a plus.
CPR/First Aid certification is preferred.
This position requires an individual who is able to provide care in a challenging, emotionally demanding situation while maintaining a high level of professionalism and kindness. Flexibility with working hours and the ability to adjust to the client’s changing needs are essential.
Requirements
Daily Requirements:
Scheduling – each DSP has a set schedule with the assigned client(s)
Smart phone – use a cell phone to clock in/out for visits and complete the daily progress notes.
Patient, Kind and Positive – caring for clients with disabilities requires someone who can be patient, support the client through kindness and understanding, and provide positive reinforcement throughout the shift.
Driving – depending on the client, they may need to be driven to community events or appointments. Valid license and insurance required if driving will be needed.
Support – develop and maintain positive working relationships with the assigned client(s), their families and the FRR Support Manager
